Cornerstone Goes Live!

Based on the 3 mock ups, Katherine over at Cornerstone Classical chose the diamonds. The diamonds are a nod to her little gems... her kids. Here is the before and after. Click to enlarge.

Cornerstone Classical is a Real Gem!

Cornerstone Classical is looking for a facelift. Here is the current blog:



She likes the bold blue. And how cute are her kids' names? Emerald, Topaz and Garnet. I love it! Her main request was to include the scripture quote in the title. From it, came the inspiration for her homeschool name. I played on the gem theme, with diamonds in this first mock up.



For a second option as a launching point, I made a strong, bold "Cornerstone" and a much older, more classical font choice for the "Classical". The whirly-gigs make fun borders along the sides.



Here is mock up three. CC already has some existing gemstones on her blog; with a little artistic flair, the photo can be made into a background for a header.



I don't know which one CC likes, yet.. but what is YOUR favorite, dear reader?

Hi all!

Wow. Good news spreads fast! Thank you all for the inquiries about blog design. I promise I will get back to each and every email in the next week or so. In the past 2 weeks I've gone from begging my friends to let me get my hands on their blogs to more requests than I can get back to.

I am currently on design hiatus while I figure out the business end of things. I'm just a lil ol' homeschool mom with no business experience, so I will soon post the answers to all the questions about design work: pricing, timing, availability, etc.

Keep an eye on the space while I figure out the basics. And if you sent an email - I'm not ignoring you. I'll get back to you soon.

This was a challenge for me. First, Melissa is sooo laid back - which is nice for friendship but hard for design work. Secondly, I have never worked on a platform outside of Blogger before. I'd like to start making custom headers for TypePad and WordPress, too, but so far, only people on Blogger have approached me. So, Melissa blogs over at Xanga. She wanted something that reflected the non-perfect, colorful, real daily life of a busy homeschool mom - and she likes berry colors. Here is her screen shot.

The Phamily Tree Takes Root

Well, I think this is it. The changes are subtle... more outlining, the pears are softened and blended. The texturing on the borders are toned down a little. I tweaked the words below the branch a little bit too.

J-Bug Take 2

An update for J-bug. That one non-dangling pear was bugging me. I didn't really want to redraw it... first because I'm on a mouse, not a tablet, so freehand is hard, and two.... because I was feeling a little lazy on this cold Sunday afternoon. ;)

I did it anyway. Also, J-Bug wanted the words to follow the branch. How cute is this little "fix this diagram" she made me???

J-bug is a tiny, cute teacher and do-gooder whose adorable daughter was a preemie like Trouble. She needs a space of her own. Here is J-Bug's first mock-up.




The trade, of course, for this blog work is her daughter's hand in marriage to my son Trouble in 25 years. Sounds fair to me. This, by the way, is the Pink Princess, the betrothed. Don'tcha just want to eat her???

A little bidness

My friend, The Nester, finalized her choices and her blog is live. That was the most fun I've ever had on a project. As you can tell from her blog, she is a HOOT, a little cuckoo, not at all flighty and... ok okay, I'm out of bird jokes. That's all I got. Anyway... Thanks, Nester! Check out her blog here.

Sooo, now on to some other stuff. I made these 3 choices of business cards for a client. The business is a high-end custom cabinet company about to start up locally. I have a thing for local start-up businesses. Makes ya' want to root for the little guy, right? Which do YOU like, dear reader?
